OS9 SOFTWARE

--> OSX SOFTWARE <--

Last updated: (the early morning of) May 26, 2019
Since I've already done the OS9 list, I'll make this simpler. Each software has links to appropriate Macintosh Garden entries. Names in bold are either recommended or essential. Italics mean it's the latest (available) version compatible with Tiger, the latest (available) version on the Garden, or the last/latest version period.

Quick links: Apps - Extensions - Graveyard - Notes

Apps

  • Cyberduck 3.2.1 (FTP client)
  • iPhoto 5 [1]
  • iWork '05 (which at that point was just Pages and Keynote lol) [2]
  • StuffIt Deluxe 10 (bolded cuz some OSX apps on the Garden are packaged in *.sit format for some reason)
  • TenFourFox FPR14 (if only it would f*#king work, fortunately the Garden does work on Safari and also this is an official link lol)
  • X-Chat Aqua 0.16.0 (sadly a SourceForge link, so it can't be accessed in Tiger's version of Safari)

Extensions

  • FinderPop 2.5.7 (the link goes to the official site, since it's still online, and the only versions archived on the Garden are for OS8 and 9)
  • Growl 1.1.6 (notification engine; also installed included Safari plugin, GrowlSafari)
  • GrowlPhoto 0.7 (iPhoto support for Growl)

Graveyard

  • ircle 3.1.2 OSX (basically just a Carbonized version, didn't look too X-like)
  • Linkinus 1.7 (a more OSX-looking IRC client, didn't realize it wasn't trialware until running it lol)

Notes (extended ones, anyway)

[1]Part of iLife '05, which I recommend on the whole. The link takes you to a collection of PPC-compatible iLife versions.
[2]Unless you use iWork on newer version of OSX/macOS, I don't recommend it. If this is your first time with PPC OSX, I would rather recommend Microsoft Office 2004 or OpenOffice.org PPC. iWork is only in bold as an office suite is obviously an essential thing to have anyway.
